Natural Beauty at Top Kawartha Lakes Attractions
What else is there to do in Kawartha Lakes besides basking by the water? Plenty, it turns out. If you’d prefer to stay dry, you can always spend hours exploring nature. Kawartha Lakes is home to more than 600 trails, each more beautiful than the last. Here are a few of the most picturesque Kawartha Lakes places to visit:
- Ken Reid Conservation Area is a diverse natural landscape that includes 10 interconnected trail loops. Along the way, you’ll explore open meadows, forests, and the McLaren’s Creek wetlands. If you need to cool off, you can always take a dip in the designated swimming area on Sturgeon Lake.
- Balsam Lake Provincial Park, where you can take in vast, panoramic views of the lake and surrounding forested areas. Once again, you can take a swim or relax at the beach before or after your hike.
- Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Provincial Park, one of the least disturbed areas in Central Ontario, is truly a natural paradise. Over 40 km of scenic trails weave through bedrock uplands, wetlands, and mixed forests. This trail is best for experienced hikers due to its solitude and lack of public facilities and services.
