Today is a great day to talk about one of our favourite topics. And we will never get tired of discussing all of the reasons it’s so great to live in Peterborough! When you talk to anyone who has relocated, they’ll often mention how much more affordable it is here instead of the GTA, how much less traffic there is, and the fact that you can always get back to Toronto if you want to because of the convenient location. Of course, all of these are great reasons to pack up and move, and comparing Peterborough to Toronto is one of our favourite pastimes.
But there’s more to this fantastic city than merely escaping the hassles of the even bigger city. Peterborough is a fun and dynamic place in its own right, not just because of its affordability and proximity to everywhere else. In this article, we’ll talk about a few of our favourite aspects of Peterborough life.
The Scenery is Stunning
In Peterborough, you have all of the conveniences of a major city right at your fingertips. However, you’re also surrounded by so many peaceful parks and stunning hiking trails that you may feel like you’re on vacation 365 days of the year.
We’re talking about tranquil waterfront trails with views that will take your breath away and walking and cycling paths where you can explore marshes, forests, and grasslands. For outdoor enthusiasts, you couldn’t ask for a better place to put down roots. And even if hiking isn’t your thing, you’ll still appreciate the beauty of nature and fresh air every time you step out into your own backyard.

The Food is to Die For
Have you had one of those days where you just can’t imagine cooking at home? No matter what neighbourhood you live in, a fabulous meal awaits you practically just outside your door. If that’s not enough H2O for your tastes, the shores of Chemong Lake are a quick 23-minute drive away! A Thriving Community
Technically, Peterborough is a mid-sized city located approximately 90 minutes east of Toronto. However, you’ll swear it was a charming small town once you begin to experience the warm and welcoming community.
